Edgar Allen Poe

Last week, our dear Edgar Allen Poe turned 200. I apologize for being one week late, but how better can this be celebrated than by a YouTube of Christopher Walken reading "The Raven":

Hmm... I realize now that Walken has transformed for me into a caricature of himself. So, it's hard to hear this without flashing back to his famous Saturday Night Live skit.

Never thought I would hear him saying, "Quaff, oh quaff..."

He read some of Poe's stuff in the movie The Dead Zone. I think he's suited to Poe.

Great job by Walken.

A buddy of mine wrote a musical about Edgar Allen Poe a number of years ago. Believe it or not, he actually did succeed in getting a bigshot producer on Broadway to read the script and listen to a tape, which is saying something.

The producer (I wish I could remember who it was) responded in the form of a review's critique. He pretty much savaged him, with a line along the likes of "It was painfully obvious in the script where Poe left off and Sullivan began..."
