radio sententia -- Khaled
Very busy, but here is a song I love from the Algerian Rai singer Khaled. Dig the funky bass and the dude with the horns on his head.

Kind of reminds me of an Arabic Tower of Power...
Cool. I remember him ro msomewhere before. Spain? Is that where you found out about him?
Garpu - You're one of the few people I've encountered who actually knew who Tower of Power was! I saw them in concert when I was a kid, opening up for War. 1975 maybe. People sat on the floor of the auditorium, and we were almost killed by big men wearing huge platform shoes.
The Tower of Power were great. Did the play What is Hip? at that show?
Who was the guy with the trumpet, the beard and the 'fro who used to dance with the crazy legs? I remember seeing him on Don Kirshcner's Friday Night Rock Concerts.
Tower of Power's awesome. And they're still funky after 30 years.
Liam, do you know Randall Balmer, a teacher at Columbia?
No -- what does he teach?
When I was looking up Tom Reese's answer on Romney's speech, I saw that one of the other guys answering was him. Here's the blurb about him ...
Randall Balmer, an Episcopal priest, is the Ann Whitney Olin professor of American religious history at Barnard College, Columbia University, and a visiting professor at Yale Divinity School. The “On Faith” panelist has written ten books, including Thy Kingdom Come: How the Religious Right Distorts the Faith and Threatens America and Mine Eyes Have Seen the Glory: A Journey into the Evangelical Subculture in America, which was made into a three-part documentary for PBS. Balmer was nominated for an Emmy for his script-writing on that series.
You work at such an interesting place :-)
