Jesus chasing the money changers out the temple, by Giotto. Do you know what Jesus never got angry about? Same-sex marriage. Image credit

I have been absent from the blog because of the craziness of life, but lately I've been feeling the need to write a bit more about the things that have been circling around in my head. I cam across this article on Facebook about Tennessee county clerks resigning rather than issue licenses for same-sex marriages, which resulted in the following rant:

All the injustice in the world, all the war, the poverty, the racism, the environmental degradation, domestic violence, child abuse, the abject suffering, and THIS is the issue that people decide to take a stand on.

I've said it before. There is no "biblical definition of marriage." Same-sex marriage is not discussed at all in the Bible, because it was not a cultural possibility at the time the Bible was written. There are a handful of condemnations of gay sex, but either in the context of Levitical law, superseded in Christian belief by the New Law (which is why these ignorant bigots didn't resign en masse when they served ham sandwiches at the office party), or in the context of rape (Sodom and Gomorrah), or, in the epistles of Paul, in the context of "sexual immorality," that is, classed with adultery and fornication and not in the context of committed relationships. It's very weak soup to make the center of your religious conviction.

More importantly for these "Christians" is that same-sex behavior of any kind is not brought up once in the Gospels. Jesus has nothing to say about either sex or marriage between two people of the same gender. You know what he did condemn? Divorce, and quite clearly (Mark 10:2-12). So why did these clerks not resign when told to issue certificates of divorce?

I think that there is a very weak case for Christian condemnation of same-sex marriage, but even if you do believe there is and you're Christian, don't you think that it's a rather mild problem in relation to the greater suffering in the world that Jesus did condemn? Even if Jesus did mention divorce once (reported in Matthew and Mark and, it should be said, in its own context before stated as an article of law), he spent much more time decrying hatred, poverty, the dangers of wealth , and (ahem) hypocrisy. Maybe Christians should focus on those issues first.

Even if your Pharisaical and even Talibanish understanding of Christianity makes you focus on things like gay marriage and seeing the splinter in your neighbor's eye instead of the beam in your own, the answer is simple: don't marry someone of the same gender. Leave the rest of us alone. And if you're really interested in "the glory of God," maybe you should read His word with more intelligence and understanding, bringing to it fewer cultural taboos that have little to do with the actual text.

The word SODOM is where the word "Sodomy" is derived from.It does not mean Homosexual RAPE, It is an immoral act by 2 men

Here is a quotation
Romans 1
[26] For this cause God delivered them up to shameful affections. For their women have changed the natural use into that use which is against nature. [27] And, in like manner, the men also, leaving the natural use of the women, have burned in their lusts one towards another, men with men working that which is filthy, and receiving in themselves the recompense which was due to their error. [28] And as they liked not to have God in their knowledge, God delivered them up to a reprobate sense, to do those things which are not convenient;

There are several others like it - none of which are printed in the Novus Ordo Missal. Clearly edited out by the Pro Gay Mafia. Sorry you are being lied to. When God appeared to Abraham, before he went forth to Sodom and Gomorrah to pass judgement on them for the sins of Sodomy, do you not realise that Scripture tells us that the God who stood before Abraham on that day was in fact Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ?

Take note of these passages from Sacred Scripture.

"Before Abraham. I AM" Christ told the Pharisees that He had existed before Abraham was born. They mocked Him and took up stones to stone Him for blaspheming in taking upon Himself the Holy Name of God "I AM" means Yahweh. It is the eternal Name of God. The problem was, that The Pharisees were aware that God had appeared physically to Abraham, and they realised that Christ was telling them that it was He HIMSELF that called down judgement on the lands named Sodom and Gomorrah for Homosexual Practices that so offended the Holy Trinity that EVERYBODY was cleared of living there until the end of time(the areas are STILL empty today do your research. Sulphur balls are everywhere along with charred bones)

St John tells us in Chapter one of His Gospel that prior to the Incarnation Our Lord Jesus existed from the beginning with the Father, and was called "The Word"

When Our Lord appeared before Abraham, and then journeyed to judge Sodom, Scripture tells us that two members of the Most Holy Trinity were working together in that chastisement. Read the following.

Genesis 19
" [24] And the Lord (Christ standing with Abraham) rained upon Sodom and Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the Lord (Father) out of heaven.

There are numerous passages throughout Sacred Scripture where more than one member of the Holy Trinity is speaking in the Scripture passage. This is just to give you evidence that when Christ says "I and the Father are ONE!" He is confirming that the chastisements made in Scripture by God the Father, are mutually enacted with the collaboration of the Son and the Holy Ghost.

More on the Trinitarian appearances in the Old Testament

Take this further example. Not to do with Homosexuality, but it becomes clearer to you that Christ judges with the same just Judgement as His Father. Never would God the Father condemn Homosexuality without both His Only Begotten Son, Christ AND the Holy Spirit being in perfect agreement with Him.

Our Lord Jesus (preincarnate) proclaims to Isaiah of the time when He will become Man, sent from the Father through the power of the Holy Spirit to judge or save the world.

Isaiah 48
"Come ye near unto me, and hear this: I have not spoken in secret from the beginning: from the time before it was done, I was there, and now the Lord God hath sent me, and his spirit."

Another pre-existence confirmation, Here is a beautiful passage. Prior to His Incarnation Christ speaks in Proverbs 8 of His beginning.

Proverbs 8
[22] The Lord possessed me in the beginning of his ways, before he made any thing from the beginning. [23] I was set up from eternity, and of old before the earth was made. [24] The depths were not as yet, and I was already conceived. neither had the fountains of waters as yet sprung out: [25] The mountains with their huge bulk had not as yet been established: before the hills I was brought forth:

[26] He had not yet made the earth, nor the rivers, nor the poles of the world. [27] When he prepared the heavens, I was present: when with a certain law and compass he enclosed the depths: [28] When he established the sky above, and poised the fountains of waters: [29] When he compassed the sea with its bounds, and set a law to the waters that they should not pass their limits: when be balanced the foundations of the earth; [30] I was with him forming all things: and was delighted every day, playing before him at all times;

[31] Playing in the world: and my delights were to be with the children of men. [32] Now therefore, ye children, hear me: Blessed are they that keep my ways. [33] Hear instruction and be wise, and refuse it not. [34] Blessed is the man that heareth me, and that watcheth daily at my gates, and waiteth at the posts of my doors. [35] He that shall find me, shall find life, and shall have salvation from the Lord:

[36] But he that shall sin against me, shall hurt his own soul. All that hate me love death.

Prefer the REAL Christ . Sometimes we are aware that something is "wrong" / "Sinful" "An abomination to God" Yet, the Devil blinkers our eyes, and we try to convince ourselves that we are NOT wrong, NOT falling into a trap.

Don't delude yourself that the inhabitants of Sodom were guilty of male RAPE,The word "Sodomite" or "Sodomy" has only been altered by those who don't wish it was called abominable by God It was our Lord Jesus Christ who judged them guilty of death - as He pre-existed the Incarnation, He was ALWAYS with the Father.

"I AND THE FATHER ARE ONE!"
