The Monks are (were) excellent! Truly ahead of their time.
I can't help but wonder if they would have made it big if instead of a Roman tonsure they wore their hair in a Celtic tonsure (shaving all the hair in front of a line drawn over the top of the head from ear to ear). Another unintended casualty of the Synod of Whitby.
I had the same thought as Jeff - Did the Roman tonsure hurt their chances of making it? If they had looked like the Kinks.... who knows what might have happened.
Or was it just the fact that they sounded like Sonic Youth 20 years too soon?

Jeff -- My general impression of the history of Western Civilization is that everything has gone downhill since the synod of Whitby. It's just been thirteen and a half centuries of crap.
