radio sententia -- gran ganga

A bit of the eighties in Madrid. From Pedro Almodovar's Labyrinth of Passions:

"Calamares por aqui, boquerones por alla... Aaaaaaaaahhh..."

Wow, I almost shed a tear. Can still remember my first bocadillo de calamares in 1989 at some joint in the Plaza Mayor. Seems like that and a caƱa came out to like 150 pesetas.

Funny, I had the strongest flashes of Cafe Comercial yesterday. Remembering us working on Mr. Oso. Those were great and glorious days.

Sigh . . . .

Hey, you're not reading the Harry Potter books OUT OF ORDER, are you? I see Chamber of Secrets and then Order of the Phoenix. What are you playing at?

If you look more closely at all my books, you'll see that I have read all of those up to the Half-Blood Prince, which I just started. Very excited to start one without having seen the movie first.

By the way, I want to go to Hogwarts.

So that GoodReads widget isn't up-to-date? Kinda weird.

Hah -so you're hooked! Now Alex and I aren't the only Potter-heads among our friends.

Yeah, Hogwarts is pretty cool. I want to play Quidditch. They're playing it in college now, you know.

Collegiate Quidditch takes off — figuratively, at least.

"Of all the things I've done in my four years at Middlebury, this is by far the best," says Ellie Molyneux, 21, a psychology major from Worthington, Mass., who played for the Bad Ass Muggle Flyers. "I won a Jell-O wrestling contest one year, but this is far better."
