updated links

From a thirteenth-century German manuscript. A monk is picking out a piece of parchment. He will then stretch it on a frame and scrape it smooth with a knife (see background). Then he will add links to his favorite blogs
.

Jeff has wondered about the absence of a link on my page to his remarkable blog. The reason behind this absence has to do with a conspiracy involving the CIA, the MI5, the Illuminati and a handful of albino monks. That, and a flood of biblical proportions as well as an odd position of Jupiter in relation to the constellation Anthrax. That, and I'm lazy and afraid of html.

But I should share these great blogs with anyone who may stumble across mine. I also noticed the links to Fay's blog (which she has renamed Chaldean Thoughts) and Habakkuk's Watchpost didn't work, and I think I fixed that.

Jeff's blog, Aun Estamos Vivos, containing his reflections on religion, politics, and society, is one of the most thoughtful and well-written blogs you will find out there. Cura Animarum is a great spiritual blog, also very intelligent and worth reading. I have recently discovered Musing from the Big U, by another Catholic graduate student, a composer. You may have come across Gabrielle in the comment box, and it's about time I listed her blog, The Lost Fort, full of lovely medieval tidbits.

I'm sure I'm forgetting other wonderful blogs and I promise to be better about adding them in the future. Until then, enjoy these links (and the beauty of my cat -- see below).

I don't have any links or a blog roll - can't figure out how it's done on the template. You've inspired me, though ... maybe I can try again to figure it out. Then let the bidding begin (how much did you charge Jeff to get on the blogroll? :-)

I think you have one link you've made, right? Just copy it, put in the new information and place it right below the other link on the template.

Charging... hmmm... Maybe I will check my site meter, see how many people have clicked on your blogs, and send you guys a bill...

how much did you charge Jeff to get on the blogroll?

I don't pay people. I rely on intimidation... I've probably seen too many Martin Scorcese movies.

Yes, that's true. Behind Jeff's causal mention of not being on my blogroll, I had a vision of someone coming down from Boston on the Chinatown bus and wailing on my knees with a baseball bat autographed by David Ortiz.

Hey thanks for the shout-out! I need to update my links, too...

Hey thanks for saying I'm intelligent Liam. Can you send an note about that to my two teens? Just let me know where I can send the check. ;o)

Thank you for linking to my blog.

And no, I didn't bribe him nor did I send him pictures with me and that big, nasty rifle. :)

Hmm, I looked up the Anthrax Constellation in Wikipedia, where I go for all my scientific knowledge needs, and they only mention a thrash metal band from New York City. Are you sure you didn't mean the Metallica Constellation?

That Boston Irish mafia, eh? Well, you should just sick your Satanic Attack Cat on him.

Thanks for the updated links.

Unfortunately, Crystal's link still has problems. An extra / at the end of the URL. I kept meaning to mention that to you.

Garpu, CA, Gabriele -- I'm glad I finally got around to it. Your blogs are well worth visiting.

Cowboy --
I guess Wikipedia isn't perfect. Some crazed metalhead who refuses to let his favorite band be upstaged keeps editing the constellation out of existence.

And stop picking on Mishea. Say what you want about me, but that cat is like my daughter.

I can see you with a shotgun in your lap when her boyfriends come around.

She's a very sweet and loving cat. Thank you for posting cute photos of such a pretty, adorable kitty.

Liam said...

Well, she's been fixed, so I don't know about the boyfriends...

Liam, do you know about the Children's Crusade of the 13th century? I saw it mentioned in a wikipedia article on the Slaughterhouse-Five book .... it sounds pretty interesting.

Hi Crystal -- It was really one of the mainly popular religious movements of that time, and didn't really involve children. The
Wikipedia article about it is good.
